  1.                          Pmmgr Program

  3. This disk provides the basic information needed to utilize version 
  4. 1.0 of the PMMGR program to edit Program Manager groups and items in
  5. the Microsoft Windows environment.  PMMGR is a copyrighted product of
  6. MRL and all rights are reserved.  Use of this version is allowed for
  7. evaluation only and continued usage requires that the user pay the
  8. registration fees as defined in the companion user manual file.  MRL
  9. obligations and warranties are defined in the users manual.
  10. Registration can be accomplished by payment to MRL at 1200
  11. Stonehurst Drive, Huntsville, Alabama, 35801.  The register.frm file
  12. provides registration information.  Feedback is desireable and can
  13. be made via mail at the above address or via Compuserve electronic
  14. mail to MRL at user id [73637,737].

  16. The PMMGR program allows users to edit their Windows desktop
  17. by addition, deletion and editing of Windows Program Manager groups and
  18. program item.  This release is designed for usage with Windows 3.1.

  20. Quick start for experienced users:  
  21.   
  22. 1)      Unarchive files into program directory (e. g., C:\PMMGR) Not required for CD
  23.   
  24. 2)      Run install.exe.  A PMMGR group will be created.  The icons displayed
  25.         in this group execute PMMGR, display this file (readme), display the
  26.         users manual (users manual), display a registration form (register)
  27.         and remove PMMGR (delete).  To register and avoid startup
  28.     messages, fill out the register form and send to MRL.

  44. The software described herein is furnished under a license  
  45. agreement.  The software may be used or copied only in accordance
  46. with the terms of the applicable agreement.  The purchaser may
  47. make one copy of the software for backup purposes.  Unregistered
  48. copies of PMMGR are for evaluation purposes only, and may be
  49. distributed through normal shareware channels.  Please distribute
  50. these evaluation copies to other bulletin boards and users.

  52. PMMGR may be uploaded to and downloaded from commercial
  53. systems such as CompuServe, the Source, and BIX, as long as there
  54. is no charge for the product itself.  Those copying, sharing, 
  55. and/or electronically transmitting this product are required not
  56. to delete or modify the copyright notice and restrictive notices
  57. from the program or documentation.  Any distribution of PMMGR
  58. must include all files contained in the packed format.  Commercial
  59. vendors and distributors of "public domain" or user-supported  
  60. software libraries may distribute copies of PMMGR unless
  61. notified by MRL to cease distribution of the product.  Only
  62. nominal fees associated with copying and handling (not to exceed
  63. $5 US) may be charged by anyone providing unregistered copies.
  64. PMMGR may not be utilized or distributed as a promotion for
  65. any commercial venture.

  80. Definition of Shareware

  82.  Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  83.  before buying it.  If you try a Shareware program and continue
  84.  using it, we expect you to register.  Individual programs differ
  85.  on details -- some request registration while others require 
  86.  it, some specify a maximum trial period.  With registration, you
  87.  get the simple right to continue using the software and an 
  88.  updated program.

  90.  Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,
  91.  and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few 
  92.  specific exceptions as stated below.  Shareware authors are
  93.  accomplished programmers, just like commercial authors, and
  94.  the programs are of comparable quality.  (In both cases, there
  95.  are good programs and bad ones!).  The main difference is in the
  96.  method of distribution.  The author specifically grants the
  97.  right to copy and distribute the software, either to all and
  98.  sundry or to a specific group.  For example, some authors
  99.  require written permission before a commercial disk vendor may
  100.  copy their Shareware.
